Shuoba! teachers and students are going to visit Shijia Hutong Museum on February 26th!
Shijia Hutong Museum is the earliest preserved Beijing style museum, there is no hustle and bustle like Nanluogu Xiang, if you like old Beijing culture, feel free to join us!
Shijia Hutong Museum is Beijing's first hutong (or “alley”) museum. This is a delicate courtyard, covering an area of over a thousand square meters. The giant old persimmon trees in the courtyard, grey-bricked tile-roofed house, two birdcages hanging in the small corridor, all these make people think they have entered a large family of a TV drama in the late Qing Dynasty. It shows the history, culture and change of Shijia Hutong with different forms. The courtyard was originally the talented woman Ling Shuhua’s dowry in Republic of China, many literati used to gathered around and party in this courtyard. In the hall of the door is covered with a lot of old tiles, these are the old objects of the 1930’s. One of the most distinctive is the alley sound exhibition hall. By selecting the different hutongs on the multi-function screen, you will hear different sounds; sound of hawking, bike horns, etc., are all the familiar sounds of an old Beijinger’s memory. This museum is hidden in the hutong, can be regarded as the most ancient Beijing style museum.
